Introduction to VAMPIRE® Course

DeltaRail can provide initial training in the use of VAMPIRE®. Courses can be tailored to the customers requirements depending upon their experience of railway dynamics and dynamics simulation techniques. We can provide training courses from one day to five days in duration. An initial training course is strongly recommended when you purchase VAMPIRE®.

Courses can be held in Derby, UK or on the Licensee's site. The course is hands-on and covers all the elements of constructing vehicle models, using the customer's data if available.

The second half of the course then goes on to cover testing the validity of the vehicle model and then carrying out a number of different types of analysis using the VAMPIRE® analysis programs and post-processors. The Licensee can dictate the types of analysis carried out to some degree once all of the basic types of analysis have been covered. A useful output from the course is a reasonably complete model of one of the Licensee's vehicles on which several types of analysis have been performed. This ensures that the Licensee is doing useful work with the program with a high degree of proficiency, cutting down the learning time.

Specialist VAMPIRE® Course

The VAMPIRE® team can provide specialist training courses on specific modelling issues. These include freight vehicle suspension modelling, passenger vehicle suspension modelling, the use of flexible modes in a model etc. These courses are typically half or full day courses.

Please contact the VAMPIRE® administration helpdesk by e-mail - vampireadmin@deltarail.com - expressing your requirements for a course. Please include your name, email address, organisation and business address and insert SPECIALIST TRAINING COURSE into the title bar.

The Course
DeltaRail has been a world leader in the field of Railway Vehicle Dynamics for over 25 years. This course covers both theoretical and practical aspects of Railway Vehicle Dynamics and is aimed primarily at railway vehicle designers and train operators.  The course would also benefit infrastructure owners and permanent way engineers who need a better understanding of how vehicle dynamics and vehicle track interaction impacts on their field of engineering.

The first two days of the course cover the basic theoretical background to railway vehicle behaviour together with a variety of important applications. The optional third day describes various common suspension arrangements and discusses modelling techniques for prediction of dynamic behaviour, using the VAMPIRE® Software Package.
